Il “Matteo Addabbo Organ Trio” nasce dalla volontà di ricreare il sound delle formazioni jazzistiche tradizionali con l’organo Hammond, prendendo come riferimento le opere lasciate da organisti americani come Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff e Larry Young. In questa ricerca sonora il trio si esprime con una nuova freschezza compositiva grazie a brani originali riconducibili agli stili del jazz più attuale. Le composizioni del trio offrono un percorso musicale articolato, dove si percepiscono le numerose influenze musicali di Matteo Addabbo e dei suoi partners, che si rifanno sia a modelli artistici contemporanei, come quello del trio dell’organista statunitense Larry Goldings, ma anche al bagaglio culturale italiano regalato dalle musiche per film degli anni ’60, di compositori immortali come Piero Piccioni e Piero Umiliani. Un progetto nuovo quindi, radicato nella tradizione jazzistica, ma aperto al futuro.
The “Matteo Addabbo Organ Trio” was started wondering to recreate the sound of traditional jazz bands with the Hammond organ, taking as a reference the works left by American organists like Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff and Larry Young. Within this sound research frame, the music played by the trio expresses freshness, thanks to the original songs connecting different contemporary jazz styles. The trio proposes a varying musical journey, where the many influences of Matteo Addabbo and his partners can be perceived, from the sound of the American organist Larry Goldings Trio to the cultural background given by the Italian film music from the 60’s, by immortal composers like Piero Piccioni and Piero Umiliani. The “Matteo Addabbo Organ Trio” is then an “all over again project”, rooted in the jazz tradition, but open to the future..
