Mezza Milzow Project è un progetto internazionale avviato dal pianista italiano Vittorio Mezza e David Milzow, eccellente saxofonista e docente tedesco, con la collaborazione di Ettore Fioravanti (tra i maggiori batteristi italiani). Vittorio Mezza è artista dalle doti straordinarie, tocco raffinato , elegante e cristallino. Il suo è un pianismo che attinge sapientemente alla tradizione jazzistica per esplorare nuove frontiere stilistiche e dispiegarsi in chiave autonoma ed originale. Il suo precedente lavoro per Abeat ( Vittorio mezza trio, 2010) è stato inserito nella lista dei 100 cds dell’anno ai Jazzit-awards. Con il seguente lavoro in piano solo ( Life process, sempre Abeat 2012) ha ulteriormente confsolidato un notevole successo di critica e di appassionati. David Milzow è una delle migliori realtà del panorama jazzistico tedesco degli ultimi anni ( vincitore di alcuni awards come miglior sassofonista in Germania). Milzow e Mezza insieme hanno dato vita a questo nuovo lavoro, la cui musica è stata appositamente scritta per saxofoni, pianoforte acustico e fender rhodes, batteria e percussioni. Il risultato è un cd dal sound abbastanza particolare ed interessante, non legato “trictu sensu” al jazz, ma di matrice contemporanea e molto adatto alle immagini, con dieci tracce piuttosto eterogenee. Hanno esteso la collaborazione al grande batterista italiano Ettore Fioravanti (accanto a Paolo Fresu nel suo quintetto storico…) è già partner abituale di Mezza in precedenti lavori.
La musica si snoda in percorsi di sovrapposizione ritmico-melodica e armonica su diversi piani, il silenzio diventa uno spazio di sviluppo ideale per le trame del dialogo improvvisativo, un luogo fondamentale dove il suono si riaccende in linee che assumono una nuova e positiva connotazione nel vuoto. Il risultato è davvero originale, raffinato e moderno. Eccellente alternativa alle consuete proposte stereotipate. Composizioni originali e di grande intensità a firma dei due co-leaders.

Pianist Vittorio Mezza and Saxophonist David Milzow, two musicians, who began a musical relationship, which stands for contemporary Jazz as an European meeting between Italy and Germany:
First they met in the USA at the place of the older statesmen in Jazz, Dave Liebman.
Since then they´ve developed together their own musical language:
European Jazz on the amount of its time, with odd meter- Rhythms, sophisticated original compositions, chromatic harmonies… so far so good.
There´s this something special, what makes this cooperation to something else:
It´s the direct, “right away” expression by Mezza and Milzow, two true virtuosos on their instruments, who understand it to attain the attention of the audience alone through their individual, emotional sounds on their instruments.
Like in a movie or stage play Mezza and Milzow create through their compositions and special styles on Piano and Sax new atmospheres and moods, originate Jazz, which is not just formal convincingly, but also shares a real depths of feeling and experience with the listener, which become rarely heard in the jazz scene today.
Not only for the Body, not only for the intellect, it´s Jazz for Body and Soul!
