Spirit of the Wood è il primo passo di un percorso a lunga gittata, che racconta di un viaggio iniziatico alla scoperta dell’equilibrio dei mondi diviso in cinque fasi ed altrettanti dischi. Prendendo a spunto la cosmologia esistenzialista dell’antica Grecia sino a raggiungere l’odierna visione del mondo occidentale, dai cinque simbolici elementi “base” si genera tutta la materia sia fisica che metafisica. I cinque elementi, tuttavia, sono in realtà una metafora per descrivere le fasi di un’esistenza, ognuno con una sua caratteristica dimensione spirituale.
Si parte da “Il Legno” (木, mù) ( the wood), una materia viva che rappresenta l’energia della crescita. Ha così inizio la pentalogia musicale ideata da Joy Grifoni, immaginifica artista e contrabbassista, che con rara e vivida intensità ha musicato la sua ispirazione, concretizzatasi grazie anche alla maestria di di grandi musicisti della scena nazionale, una solida ritmica ( Umberto odone,Francesco Baiuguera, Mattia Manzoni al pianoforte) solisti d’eccezione, Il Phauno della fisarmonica Fausto Beccalossi e Stefano D’Anna ai sax. Grandi composizioni, ispirate e visionarie, un bookleet con delle meravigliose note esplicative. E’nata una stella del firmamento nazionale.
Spirit of the Wood is the first step of a long-distance journey, which tells of an initiatory journey to discover the balance of the worlds divided into five phases and as many records. Taking inspiration from the existentialist cosmology of ancient Greece until reaching today’s vision of the Western world, from the five symbolic “basic” elements all physical and metaphysical matter is generated. The five elements, however, are in fact a metaphor for describing the phases of an existence, each with its own characteristic spiritual dimension.
It starts from “Il Legno” (木, mù) (The wood), a living material that represents the energy of growth. Thus began the musical pentalogy conceived by Joy Grifoni, an imaginative artist on doublebass who is playing with rare and vivid intensity.A marvellous Cd also thanks to the mastery of great musicians of the national scene, a solid rhythmic section (Umberto Odone, Francesco Baiuguera , Mattia Manzoni on the piano) exceptional soloists, the Phauno of the accordion Fausto Beccalossi and Stefano D’Anna on saxophones. Great compositions, inspired and visionary, a booklet with wonderful explanatory notes. A star of the national firmament has been born.
