Luca Falomi
An excerpt from Paolo Fresu’s Liner Notes, well exemplifies the spirit of this new work by Luca Falomi. “…his guitars strip themselves of the superfluous to dress the substance that refers to the soul and the heart. What kind of music is his? They are sounds that leave space. They split the silence that explodes into a thousand splinters through an overflowing creativity that he expresses both through writing and performance, never an end in itself but always listening and in dialogue with the various guests who embellish this recording work. Myricae is the roar of silence in response to that caused by time that runs and flows incessantly, between conflicts and discoveries, humanism and technology”. PAOLO FRESU
“Myricae”, that is “Tamerici”( tamarisks). The title of the album refers to the famous collection by Giovanni Pascoli’s poetry which in turn refers to Virgil’s IV bucolic, to indicate that his is a seemingly simple Poetry (like the humble tamarisks), which sings of family themes, daily life, intimate affections. Luca Falomi, guitarist and composer acclaimed by the public and critics thanks to some previous works, now presents his new album as a soloist with the guitar as the protagonist at 360 degrees, straddling various genres: jazz, ethnic music, classical and avant-garde and with both acoustic and electric sounds. A deeply inspired album, where Falomi lays himself bare demonstrating an intense compositional vein and a degree of expressive maturity of great depth. The album is embellished by the presence of some guests and the liner notes of Paolo Fresu, his admirer.
“I found a great assonance between this concept (Myricae) and my way of composing and making music: a daily necessity, an expression of myself, of the small and big things in life”. Luca Falomi
