Michele Franzini consolida il rapporto discografico con Abeat Records con l’ausilio di musicisti di consolidata collaborazione, tra i quali spicca la figura di Rudy Royston , batterista tra i più richiesti sulla scena del jazz contemporaneo (Dave Douglas, Bill Frisell, Ravi Coltrane e JD Allen, Ben Allison…) Insieme a Roberto Mattei vanno a costituire una ritmica versatile ed esperta. Il disco nasce dopo una felice esperienza sul palco in Italia, e anche l’efficace sessione di incisione, densa di freschezza ed intensità si è rivelata davvero fortunata. Il repertorio è incentrato sulle composizioni del pianista, molto varie per quanto riguarda l’aspetto ritmico e armonico, moderne ma rispettose della grande tradizione della musica afroamericana, nonché “standard” e “jazz original”. Disco che dimostra come l’abbinamento di musicisti italiani ed americani spesso conferisce un ulteriore ed intrigante sapore alle ricette del jazz targato vecchio continente
Michele Franzini consolidates the relationship to Abeat Records with the help of established musicians, among them the figure of Rudy Royston, one of the most popular drummer on the contemporary jazz scene (Dave Douglas, Bill Frisell, Ravi Coltrane and JD Allen, Ben Allison …) Along with Roberto Mattei make up a versatile and experienced rhythmic section. The disc comes after a happy experience on stage in Italy. Also the ‘effective recording session, full of freshness and intensity, proved to be very lucky. The repertoire focuses on the pianist’s compositions, very different with regard to the rhythmic and harmonic aspect, modern but respectful of the great tradition of Afro-American music, as well as “standard” and “jazz original”. A Cd that demonstrates how the combination of Italian and American musicians often gives an additional and intriguing flavor to recipes regarding the jazz in “old continent”.
